Hey everyone. Y’all we made it. Welcome to the freaking new year. As I mentioned in my last post, this is the year where I actually show you what’s going on in my life. I thought I would kick the year off by sharing my resolutions with you.
Everyone always says that the new year is going to be “their” year. And they always “mean it”. And so do I . There are so many things that I will accomplish this year and I’m excited to bring you along for the ride.
So let’s get into what this year brings for me. Overall, my resolution for the year is to
Put me first.
For most of my life, I’ve been guilty of putting other people first and while that is an incredible thing, it isn’t always healthy. So this year, I’m going to put me first and I have 12 months of doing that.
I was inspired by this post on pinterest which showed 12 months of resolutions to follow throughout the year. I didn’t love the resolutions they came up with, so I decided to mix it up for myself.
Here is what each month will bring:
January: Drink more water- water is incredibly important to me and while I’m decently good at staying hydrated, I can still do better.
February: Write more- this semester I had the chance to take a creative writing course and I fell back in love with the written word. I want to implement it into my life more.
March: Move more- I want to make it a priority to stretch more, take the stairs more and walk more. It’s important to keep your body moving and grooving. Ya feel?
April: Take time to relax- April is usually a crazy month for me and I want to make sure that I keep my sanity by actually taking time to do a face mask, watch some Netflix, and lower my stress.
May: Be more present- May is going to be a bittersweet month for me this year. A lot of my friends are going to graduate and move onto the real world. I want to make sure that I spend as much quality time with them as I can.
June: Get more exercise- Is there a more typical New Years’ resolution? But seriously, June will be the first time I have the chance to get out and get some serious exercise.
July: Say “yes” to more- this year, I want to adventure more. I want more memorable experiences and I want to push myself out of my comfort zone.
August: Be selfish- August is my birthday month and I typically love giving everything i can to those around me, but this year, I want to let myself be selfish.
September: Make more friends- I want to push myself to grow my network of friends by talking to people I usually wouldn’t and trying to force my way into their hearts.
October: Compliment everyone more- I love complimenting people and I do it every chance I get, but this year, I want to compliment myself more and to build my self-confidence.
November: Learn 3 new things everyday- I love learning and this year I want to make sure that I am learning everything I possibly can.
December: Smile more- This is going to be a very good year, regardless of what happens and I think it is important to remember that no matter what is going on, you’ll feel better if you just smile.
I even made my own infographic that can be printed out and checked off as the year goes on. Check it out here.
I think it’s going to be a pretty great year. Let me know what your goals are for the year in the comments below and stay tuned to see if I can actually do all of this.
Lots of love,
