Spring Breaking: DIY Makeup Waterproofer

During spring break, I tend to go swimming a lot! I love wearing makeup but I hate the racoon-eyes-face-melting-off look. After someserious trial and error, I have found the perfect solution to keep my makeup in place.

Materials:

  • Aloe Vera- Any aloe will do, but try to get one that is pure aloe
  • Small, resealable container- I use a Rubbermaid container
  • Tap water- pretty straight forward
  • Tea Tree Oil (optional)- any pure tea tree oil will do
  • Facial sunscreen/moisturizer (optional)- anything gentle that has an SPF will do

Steps:

  1. Add 4 tablespoons of aloe vera to  5 tablespoons of water and stir
  2. (Optional): add 3 drops of tea tree oil and stir
  3. (Optional): add in 4 teaspoons of facial sunscreen or 2 teaspoons of moisturizer
  4. Close container and shake until blended

How to use:

  • Apply as a face primer using your fingers or a stipple brush
  • Let dry until there is no more sticky feeling before applying foundation
  • Use a waterproof mascara and eyeliner
  • Use a cream eyeshadow and blush to reduce “melting look”
  • Finish off your face with anything light layer of aloe mixture

I hope this ends up being helpful! This stuff lasts for months and is very healing for your skin! Lots of posts coming up soon. Let me know how it works for you!
